Imai Keller Moore designed this mixed-use project, working in concert with KDA Development. The project provides retail and office space as well as eight two-story townhouses known as Live/Works–residential space above shops or studios.
Bessey Square’s buildings are arranged in a “U” around a central parking court with end buildings that mark the street edge. Architectural forms and detailing are based on vernacular Maine styles. The development has a clear style and massing that makes it a recognizable landmark along Route 1, an attractive place for the people who will live, work, and shop there.
